News From Turkey World Bank Supports Natural Gas Sector Development in Turkey World Bank, Republic of Turkey and Botaş agreed to sign a $325 million Loan Agreement to support Gas Sector Development in Turkey. The major goal for this project is to increase gas supply security and stability in Turkey by supporting Botaş in order to construct critically demanded gas storage and grid infrastructure and strengthen activities by Botaş as a financially stable and commercially governed company. The project has two major component sections. 2006 Natural Gas Consumption Assumptions tor Turkey is 30. l Billion m3 Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) stated that 2006 national natura! gas consumption estimates for 2006 by Turkey who has a supply surplus is around 30.l billion m3 . According to this estimation, there will be a 16.7% increase in natura! gas consumption compared to 2005 consumption numbers which was 25.8 billion m3 • Botaş increased its natura!gas demand numbers fro 2006 from previously determined 29.285 billion m3 up to 32.342 billion m3 . According to Botaş data, natura! gas demand in 2007 will be 35.367 billion, in 2008 37.091 billion, in 2009 38.280 billion, in 2010 39.268 billion and in 2020 will be 43.922 billion m3 . Gas Distribution Co with a price of 0,089 cents/kwH. 5 companies participated at the Erzincan natura! gas bidding opened by Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA). During the bidding, Metangaz placed an offer of 0,089 cents/kwh, Ongaz Doğalgaz Dağıtım San ve Tic AŞ 0,250 cents/kwH, Peker İnşaat Tic ve San AŞ 0,289 cents/ kwH, Anadolu Doğalgaz Dağıtım AŞ 0,325 cents/kwh, Kanık İnşaat Ltd. Şti. 0,330 cents/kwH for "service and depreciation unit price". Karaman Natural Gas Bidding Awarded to Tefirom Karaman Natura! Gas Distribution Licensing Bidding is owarded on 03.02.2006. Only 5 companies out of l 3 companies that received specification documents participated at the bidding offers. The lowest 3 biddings were ploced by Sel-Tan İnşaat as O, 181 cent/kWh; HSV inşaat San. Poz. Ve Tic. AŞ as O, 158 cent/kWh and Tefirom İnşaat O, 154 cent/kWh in sealed envelopes. Since Sel-Tan İnşaat dropped the bidding offer before going under-bidding, Tefirom İnşaat and HSV continued placing offers for the bidding which ended with a price of o, 144 cent/kWh placed by Tefirom İnşaat.
