The "5th lnternational Energy Arena" held with the main theme of "Energy Strategy for Turkey' took place at the Conrad Hoteı. The organisation held for two days between April 27 and 28, 2006 enjoyed great attendance. On the first doy of the Energy Arena, where several specialist bureaucrats, businessmen and academicians participated, the energy resource diversification in Turkey, energy market reforms, power generation, distr i buti on, and transfer issues were discussed. During the second day, the worldwide energy issues, oil ve natura! gas, pipe lines and energy privatisation dynamics were discussed. -Ilı] Energy and Development are in Turkey's Agenda The "l st National Energy and Development Symposium" where the energy issues of Turkey and the wor l d were discussed together with alternative resources and the energy policies in Turkey, was held in the Beşiktaş Campus of Bahçeşehir University on April 26. Hilmi Güler, The Minister of Energy and Natura! Resources, who attended the symposium held throughout the day stated that nuclear energy needs to be taken into consideration taking into account the oil prices that exceeded 75 dollars. Minister Güler said, "After taking the necessary measures and using advanced technology, there are no problems", and he added that the criticisms regarding Turkey not having an energy policy in place do not reflect the reality. Hilmi Güler said that sustainable energy has 3 tiers, namely the economic, social and environmental aspects. Güler added that Turkey is located in a very important geographical locat i on, and said, "We wanted to make good use of the transition geography we have been blessed with, as 70 per cent of the known energy resources are winotuhled elikaesttoanbdetnheefitsofruotmh. There are consumers in the West. We consider Turkey as a transit and trading country. We this geography as much as possible. This would aftect both the foreign politics a � d our I energy policies". q---J Ilı] İzgaz Held a Forum for Assessing the Performance of lnternal lnstallation Companies İzgaz brought together the executives of authorised internal installation companies in Kocaeli, in a forum to assess the 2005 company performances, and discussed with the companies the study prepared with statistical information, to shed light on the activities to be carried out in the future. The internal installation companies showed great interest in the forum held at the Grand Yükseliş Hotel by the İzgaz General Directorate and attended the meeting with several representatives. The meeting started with the İzgaz introduction movie, and explanations were given; and the company representatives exchanged opinions. During the speeches made, it was emphasized that in Kocaeli, there are a total of l 29 authorised internal installation companies and that the total business volume will be sufficient for the companies I in 2006 and 2007 as well. q---J Ilı] Botaş is Holding a Tender for the Saline Water Discharge within the Scope of the Tuz Lake Project Botaş is holding a pipe line tender for the saline water discharge within the scope of the first underground natura! gas storage in Turkey to be built under the Tuz Lake. A tender is expected in July for the underground natura! gas depot of Botaş. According to the ads in the newspapers, within the scope of the "Turkish Republic Natura!
