Manager Funda Gürel evaluated !he energy sector with thelr presentations. ---------------�--------------- Energy Symposium from the Piri Reis Association Piri Reis Cartography and Geographical lnformation Systems Employees Association held a symposium on "Energy lnfrastructure and Englneering Approaches in Turkey". Doğal Gaz Journaı, an affiliate of Teknik Yayıncılık Group sponsored !he symposium, anditwas held on June ı O, at !he Alibeyköy Social Facilit i es of !he İGDAŞ General Directorate. Afler the opening speech !hat starled at 09.00 hours, the tirsi session on the " Current and !he near future energypotential" was chaired by Prof. Tolga Yarman. 5 specialist speakers were invited in the session and !he tirsi person to speak was Atilla Ataç, the State WaterAffairs (DSİ), Deputy Head of !he Energy Studies Department. Atilla Ataç gave !he participants detailed informalion about !he place of hydroeıectricity plants in Turkish power generation industry. Gökhan Örenayand Seyyid Gazibali from Boğaziçi Elektrik Dağıtım AŞ. spoke after Ataç, and !hey gave a presentation aboutthe problems encountered in eıectricity distribution, and the soıutions thereof. in !he tirsi session until noon, Erdinç Özen, the BOTAŞ Natural Gas OperationsAssistantDirector spoke about !he natural gas transmission networkoperations and then Murat Kaya Çoban, !he Head of TPAO Exploration Department gave a speech. Çoban shored w i th !he porticipants the oil explorations in our historyfrom a historicaı point of view. The lası presentat i on of !he session was by Cansu Gürhan from!he Energy Market RegulatoryAuthority, i:ınd Gürhan gave detailed information about the operation of the Energy Market RegulatoryAuthority and the other points of interest. After this presentation, the speakers and participants gave a lunch break. ---------------�--------------- The Draft Law For Constructing Build-Operate Power Plants Is Accepted By The Commission The lndustry, Commerce and Energy Commission of the Turkish Parliament accepted !he draft law tor constructing and operating electricity power generation plants v i a Build-Operate model, and tor regulaling the energysaıes, yesterday evening. in the drafl thal will be discussed in !he General Assembly of!he Parliament, itis proposed !hat!he contracts executed in !he Build Operate model be subject to the provisions of special laws. Accordingly, in case the generation companies thal have acquired permits to build and operate generalion plants apply within three months, !hey will sign a contract with the same provisions and conditions, subject to special ıaws, to replace !he previously slgned contract between the Türkiye Elektrik Ticaret ve TaahhütAŞ. ITETAŞ) and the generation companies. Accordingly, !he Treasury guarantees submifled earlier in relation with the previously signed contracts, the studies, protoco ı s, explanatory notes, statements, permits, declarations and the naturaı gas sales contracts signed between Botaş and the relevant generation companles will be deemed to have been renewed with all theirterms and conditions, wtthout the need tolake any other action. According to the proposal. !he prov i sions regarding approvals and durations set forth in the previously signed contracts will not change. Hilmi Güler, Minister of Energy, said !hat the problems arising from installing plants with Build Operate model to meet the energy requirement are stili continuing, and !hat !he Build Operate contracts of the five plants built are considered as privileged contracts bythe Council of State. Gülersaid!hat!he decision made by !he Cabinetin orderta prevent the ıosses !hat may arise has been cancelled by the Council ofState and !hat a motion of stay has been announced, and !hat unless measures are laken, !he motion tor stay will be implemented wilhin 30 days.
