Gas With Coffee A ceremony was held to celebrate the first time naturaı gas was used in residences in lzmir where the arrival of natural gas had been welcomed earlier on July 13 with o ceremony in Mavisehir. Residential usage of natural gas was celebrated by drinking coffee that was brewed using natural gas on August 24th. İzmirgaz General Coordinator Halil Talaş. After drinking the first coffee that was brewed with natura! gas, o second ceremony was held at Mavişehir Albatros 1 O. Konutları, where natural gas was delivered to o total of 950 residential units consisting of ı O blocks where internaı plumbing conversion has been completed . -----------~ --------- -- Natura! Gas for 75 Areas in 2007 Hilmi Güler, the Minister of Energy and Natura! Resources announced that natura! gas will be given to 75 areas next year. Güler stated that they spent 17 million dollars to bring natura! gas to Bilecik. Minister Hilmi Güler attended the ceremony by Bilecik and Bolu Natura! Gas Distribution Company Beygaz, for the first natura! gas being released to Bilecik, emphasized the facı that before the AKP government, natura! gas was available only in 5 cities, whereas this number is 36 now. Güler said, "Next year, we wlll bring natura! gas to 75 areas".The Minister said that they are working winter and summer, and added "We have completed the project of the century, namely Bakü-Tbilisi-Ceyhan. We have started natural gas and water at the same time". Güler continued: "We are working non-stop. We are carrying out significant works in electricity as weı ı. AII this is done through action, not words." -----------~ ----------- 4.9 Billion Dollar lnvestment from Çalık and lndian Oil to Ceyhan Çalık Enerji and lndian Oil Corporation ltd [IOCL) applied to the Energy Market Regulatory Board [EPDK) for o license to build an integrated refinery and petrochemical plant in Ceyhan with a capacity of 15 million tons per year [300,000 barrels per doy). in the announcement from Çalık Enerji, it was stated that the cost of the investment would be 4.9 billion dollars. Çalık Enerji Chief Executive Officer Erdal Çelik stated last month that they were planning o refinery in Ceyhan, and that they were reviewing this matter with the ltalian oil and gas giant ENi.
