FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS (ENERGY WITH ALL ASPECTS iN THE 21 st CENTURY) Symposium & Exhibition (28-30 April,1994 İSTANBUL) INTRODUCTION 1 Parallel to the rapid increase of the world population, the increase in the per capita energy demand has boosted the energy production much more than expected. On the other hand, the capacity limitations of the world's resources and the constraints originating from environmental concerns have a significant effect on the works of energy planners and producers. Consequently, international exchange of information on, and co-operation in; energy planning and production and its economical and environmentfriendly utilization have became inevitable. in this respect various activities have been initiated by the United Nations in different countries of Europe under the program "Energy Ef(iciency 2000''. The present symposium is being organized under the sponsorship of the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natura! Resources and also with the support of United Nations European Economic Comission Energy Department. in this symposium the topics, such as studies of appropriate future energy resources, production and utilization of energy with their scientific, technical, economic and environmental aspects together with the energy policies in Turkey and abroad, will be discussed.
